At the age of twenty-five I was living in a council flat, unemployed, in debt, depressed, and my boyfriend lived 250 miles away in London.

My life was spent only looking forward to spending time in London or Liverpool with my boyfriend, or getting dressed up to dance the night away in town. I always thought "tonight is going to be different, I'm going to find the happiness that life is all about."

One Saturday afternoon, 8^th January 1995, my friend, who lived in the flat below, and I  decided to go shopping in The Bootle Strand. As we got off the bus we heard music and were curious. We walked over to see what was going on. We started talking to a group of girls who told us they were born again. One of the girls shared with me how she had not been satisfied with her life. She felt unhappy all the time, never finding Mr Right. I told them my life was fine and that I had a boyfriend whom loved me, even though deep down I was not 100% sure that he did.

We spoke for a while, and they told us we could find happiness and peace through Jesus Christ.. I felt different even as the girls were speaking. I didn't understand it, I just felt something funny inside.

The girls invited me to a concert that night in the church. I asked how much it was and when they told me it was free I knew this was certainly something different.

I walked around the shops with my friend but I couldn't stop thinking about all the girls had shared with me, I knew I had to go to that concert.

The church was small, but friendly. I listened to the songs and I was amazed by the lyrics. It was as if they were a mirror image of my life. That night I bowed my knee to the Lord Jesus, repented of my sins and asked him to become my Lord and Saviour. I received the free gift of salvation and I became Born Again.

Five years on I am still serving the Lord Jesus at the very same church. Here, I have met many friends, and I my husband Andy. We are now serving God as a family. I have four beautiful sons: Jordan who is seven, Jake who is six, Joshua who is four and David who is one.
